This week we completed Chapter 10. Due to Science Fair there was no lesson on Wednesday.
Home work: Section 10.3 review, Due on Sunday the 22/03/2015, 6th lesson.
Next Wednesday on 25/03/2015, you have Chapter test, on Chapter 10– the format of the test will be similar to the semester exam. Therefore go through the topics thoroughly. If you have any Doubts bring it to class and we will slove it together.
There will be no excuse for changing the date for the test. Students who will be absent with no genuine reasons will get no grades for the test.

I hope you have started working on science fair project. Please send your group members name and the topic with procedure to Ms Sarah Tawfik by Sunday the 08/03/2015.
We started section 10.2 this week and you are presenting your topics on Sunday the 08/03/2015.
Please remember your rubrics, it should be included in your presentation. Farah and Omar showed me their presentation and I was impressed by their work. I expect grade 12 level work from you, it should not be only copy paste from internet. I want to see the undestanding of the topic you are going to present.
You can make power point presentation.
I hope you will divide the topic among your group member so that I can assess each one’s contribution.

Dear student:
I am Mrs. Monalisa Roy. I joined Global Paradigm School as a Chemistry and Biology teacher this year. It is my pleasure to teach and share the knowledge I got from my 14 years of teaching experience, with you. I completed my Bachelor in Science and Masters in Chemistry in India. After completing Masters Degree, I got opportunity to start my teaching profession as a chemistry lecturer to college level students. After having taught there for 5 years, I got the opportunity to switch my teaching to school level. I taught various exam boards in different schools in India which helped me improve my teaching skills and make it more versatile.
After 10 years teaching in India, I went to London to join my husband; since I wanted to continue my teaching profession, I enrolled at ‘Institute of Education’, University of London to pursue my Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Doing this course and getting the teaching experience in London has allowed me to develop my teaching skills and helped me to learn and adapt to the British Education System.
Teaching is my passion and I expect the same from my students. I want them to have passion to learn science and apply their knowledge to make this world a better place. It will be my pleasure to share my knowledge and expertise with my students who are aiming to achieve their goals for a brighter future. I want to be a part of their educational journey and support them as well as give them guidance. I believe that with my support and their passion it won’t be difficult for them to achieve their goals.

Late assignment policy:
Unless late assignments are accompanied by a signed valid excuse from the parents, the grading policy will be as follows:
One day late: 10% penalty
Two days late: 20% penalty
Three days late: 30% penalty
After three days, late assignments will not be graded but may be accepted as a part of the learning process.
Assessments:
Quizzes: are given either with a preset date or as a pop quiz.
Tests: will be given at the end of each chapter.
Final exams: at the end of each semester you will be given a final semester exam, the date of which is set on your school calendar.
Projects:
Semester 1:
For semester 1 a small project will be assigned within the first 5 weeks. For the rest of the semester, you will be working on your Science Fair project, which is scheduled during the beginning of semester 2 (please refer to school calendar).
Semester 2:After Science Fair is finished, you will be assigned a small project as a finale to the academic year.
Required material:
- A4 Copybook.
- Binder with U shaped files and dividers.
- White lab coat.
- Pen, pencils, erasers, ruler, glue stick and scissors.
- Sketch book & index Cards.
Note:
Please note that the school will provide the students with GP copybooks at the beginning of the school year. If the copybook is lost, students are required to purchase a new one from the school stationery shop.

- Always be prepared with your book, notebook and pencil case.
- Come to the lab with your lab coat on.
- Raise your hand for permission before speaking.
- Keep your desk and area clean.

We are also going for the River Nile trip on Monday 15/12/2014. This is going to be a very interesting project. After this trip we will collect on Thursday and summaries our work.
